Course Information


This day will be run from the recognised BikeSafe-London venues of either:

The Metropolitan Police Sports Club
(SOUTH LONDON VENUE)

ScooterSafe-London courses cost £30.00 per rider including lunch.

The day will start at 08.45am and finish at approximately 4.30pm.


Rider Requirements

On the day, please bring your UK driving licence (if photo licence then both parts), valid MOT cert (if reqd), and insurance certificate. Please wear appropriate clothing.

Aims / Objective
Reduce the number of riders killed and seriously injured in this area of moped and scooter ownership.
Encourage regular maintenance / conspicuous & safe riding equipment.
Assess riders existing skills and help to improve them.
Encourage pre-test riders to take DSA test.


Target Audience
Any person aged between 16yrs and above.
Commuters.
Persistent 'Learner' riders (for instance those undertaking 'the knowledge').

Riders who are on small capacity mopeds and scooters under and including 250cc.
Referrals from Youth clubs / Motor projects / Youth Teams / Road Safety Officers and Safer Neighbourhood Teams
Moped and Scooter Clubs
Workplace managers wishing their staff to be assessed. This area of our initiative is working very well see Work Related Road Risk BikeSafe-London which is run similarly for ScooterSafe-London.


Contents of the Course
Run from the recognised BikeSafe-London venues (see above)
Duration - One Day
You must have current CBT pass certificate


Introduction.
Check documents and vehicles.
Eyesight test.
Daily and weekly maintenance checks.
Information on DSA test - include Observation / Signal / Manoeuvre and Position / Speed / Look (OSM & PSL).
Hazard awareness.
Positioning.
Filtering / Advanced Stop Lines / Bus Lanes.
Conspicuity issues and clothing.
2 observed rides on road (urban based) 45 minutes maximum for each rider.
Full written debrief on each ride.
Lunch and refreshments.
Collision investigation and scene management.
Referral lists to recognised Authorised Training Body / Training provider.
Certificate of attendance and marketing packs.
